Rev. Stephen Bascom - Senior Pastor

     Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. (Pastor Steve) embraced Jesus as Savior at the age of nine in a county fair chapel sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship.  He felt an irresistible call to pastoral ministry, grew in discipleship and entered the candidacy journey toward ordination in the United Methodist Church.  His ministry emphasizes spiritual renewal, God-given worth and the linking of God’s biblical journey with everyday life.  He values authenticity, compassion and ‘the second chance’.

     Pastor Steve studied at UNH (BA, 1985) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA (MDiv & MRE, 1990).  His wife Jude, lives with their younger son in Bow, NH and divides her time between teaching and directing community theater in the Londonderry, NH area.  Steve and Jude have three children:  Stephen, Jr., who will be marrying in August and residing in Beverly, MA, Elle, who lives and works in Concord, NH and will be taking courses in the fall and Gabe, a junior at Bow High preparing to secure his driver’s license.

     During the 23 years of his ministry, Pastor Steve has served parishes in Chesterfield, Contoocook and Littleton (NH), Skowhegan (ME) and West Boylston (MA).  He has a genuine love for Salem, MA and anticipates the miracles God will do through the people of Wesley UMC.
